DESCRIPTION:A Date with History Lecture Series\n“Meet Mrs. Musterman\, Milliner\, & History of Millinery”\nwith Elizabeth Leah Reed\nWednesday\, May 8th\, 2024 at 1pm\nSee below for reservation details \n“Nothing is impossible if you really want to do it”\nThis statement inspired Elizabeth Leah Reed to write: “Meet Mrs. Musterman\, Milliner\, & History of Millinery” \nAs Elizabeth presents a colorful slide show\, she describes not only the life of this empowered and inspirational woman\, but intertwines the history of millinery and hat fashion—from bonnets to fascinators. When she talks about the tenacious Mrs. Musterman\, a single mom\, entrepreneur\, and community legend\, she’s likely to evoke memories of those in the audience of their grandmothers\, small towns\, and the days of wearing hats. Elizabeth shares her writing process and doesn’t exclude the real challenges she faced and met along the way to publication. Plus she encourages others to write about their memories. She also saves time for a Q&A session at the end of her talk and enjoys the hats some women wear\, bring\, or remember. \nAbout the Author:\nElizabeth Leah Reed is a nonfiction writer and the author of Mrs. Musterman\, Milliner of Main Street: A Biography (Wheatmark\, 2021) and We Come From Island People (Petersrow\, 2000). Her essays have appeared in AARP media\, The Capital\, J. of the Modoc County Historical Society\, Taijiquan J.\, Inside Annapolis\, and others. A graduate of the University of Maryland\, she taught at George Washington University and was an award-winning corporate writer. She lives in Annapolis and continues to write\, bird\, and teach tai chi.\nDate: Wednesday\, May 8th\, 2024 at 1pm\nLocation: 25 S.
