“Nothing is impossible if you really want to do it”
This statement inspired Elizabeth Leah Reed to write: “Meet Mrs. Musterman, Milliner, & History of Millinery”

As Elizabeth presents a colorful slide show, she describes not only the life of this empowered and inspirational woman, but intertwines the history of millinery and hat fashion—from bonnets to fascinators. When she talks about the tenacious Mrs. Musterman, a single mom, entrepreneur, and community legend, she’s likely to evoke memories of those in the audience of their grandmothers, small towns, and the days of wearing hats. Elizabeth shares her writing process and doesn’t exclude the real challenges she faced and met along the way to publication. Plus she encourages others to write about their memories. She also saves time for a Q&A session at the end of her talk and enjoys the hats some women wear, bring, or remember.
