Historic Easton Tours

November 14, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Talbot Historical Society is pleased to announce a day of free guided tours of Historic Easton on Saturday, November 14, 2020 (Rain date November 15).

Visitors and residents will enjoy this opportunity to explore the streets and buildings of Easton, and will learn about the founding and growth of the town over the last 200 years. Easton was founded in 1710 as Talbot Courthouse, and in 1788 became the official capital of the Eastern Shore, and the town that we know today. Tour 1 will journey past many of the earliest Federal buildings where you will hear the stories of our transformation and growth as war, fire, and railroads impacted the town. This tour will be held at 10am, noon and 2pm and will be led by Alison Irvin. Tour 2 will focus on the Ebenezer Methodist Episcopal Church, Market House and Bullitt House and will discuss how architecture related to spiritual life, civic life and daily life and will be led by Professor Michael Olmert. This tour will be held at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

Each tour will be under an hour and will leave from the Talbot Historical Society Mary Jenkins House at 30 S. Washington Street. Groups will be limited to 10 people to accommodate social distancing and masks must be worn during tours. These tours will be on a first come, first served basis, so you may need to wait for the following time slot if a tour fills up.
