In 2026, Talbot County commemorates the 250th anniversary of America’s founding with We the People of Talbot County, a powerful new exhibit exploring the county’s role in the Revolutionary War and the struggle for independence from British rule. Through rare artifacts, personal stories, historic documents, and immersive displays, visitors will discover how ordinary citizens of Maryland’s Eastern Shore answered the extraordinary call for liberty. From local patriots who supported the Continental cause to the difficult choices faced by divided families and enslaved people seeking freedom in a time of upheaval, the exhibit reveals the complex and courageous history that shaped both Talbot County and the emerging United States. We the People of Talbot County invites audiences to reflect on the ideals of freedom, sacrifice, and civic duty that continue to define the American experience 250 years later.
